Ready to join us? Beginners and beyond

Last Sunday 22nd april was a Super Sunday – we had our latest beginners to 10k runners reach their goal with a seriously hill 10k trail race.

And we are, or were talking beginners here. We know starting off it can be tempting to stick to a 5k but with 8 weeks training you can take on something longer just like these girls and succeed.

Our next 0-10k starts Weds 2nd May (details of packages here) although don’t wait until then but come and join us this Wednesday – details to come.

It was a Super Sunday though as we also had a lot of our runners doing the 10mile trail run too, including our new Running Ambassador, Tor, (seen sprinting in the picture above) who will be using her experience to help new runners on our Sunday training runs.

Tor started as a total beginner too and dreaded the hills. Now look at her…she willingly enters a hilly 10miles and sprints just after a seriously hilly finish!

And let us not forget our marathon runners, Sophia Newlove and Karen Russell. All in all, a fantastic weekend of running for the FitBitch crew!

Marathon training. Sunday 11th March.

We are now up to 17 miles in our training and once again this Sundays course is a mix of views, hills, coast and even a vineyard (not that we will be stopping for a glass of wine!)

The course is starting with our other training groups, who are  running up to the first 12 miles. We will then head in a different direction, covering the section of the course that turns at Rottingdean, heading towards Roedean before going back inland to our starting point.

As with other weeks, we welcome any new Female runners to our group. If you are a lone runner and finding the need for company on these long runs, then this is your answer. As long as you have covered up to 15 miles in your current training. We have runners training for the either the Brighton and London marathon.

Make sure you have prepared yourself adequately with fuel and hydration. Any questions please call Kate on the number below.

The route is mapped for those who have paid for the plan or are subscribed to our running club.

Location: Rottingdean, Tesco Metro car park (free before 9am, and then fairly cheap)

Time: 8.30am

Half and Marathon Training, Sunday 12th Feb

Running, opens up your world

We’re just one week away from the Brighton Half Marathon, and this is a time for our half marathon runners to start to taper. This week our Sunday run will be a flat 5.5mile run.

If you have an idea of your pace, then you should aim to run it. If not, just aim to run a bit faster than normal but don’t play around with your running speed on actual race day if you are not used to how your body should feel at a certain pace.

But for those who attended our Runner’s Mind workshop on Wednesday, try to put into practise some of the techniques that we learned.

For those training for the marathon,  Brighton or London marathon, we are going for an off-road 12 mile route.

It is a beautiful run, and if you have never joined us before and are struggling with a lack of enthusiasm for your marathon training, then this will get it back again.

PLEASE COMMENT ON WHICH ROUTE  YOU ARE DOING HERE. NOTE THE DIFFERENT LOCATION STARTS. BOTH START AT 8.30AM.
