Run the River, Saturday 4th May

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

After our stunning run last weekend, which worked on building our off-road, hill running, this week’s long run is a flat one.

There will be two distances to choose from, 8.5miles and 5 miles. That said, this is an easy out and back route, so anyone who would like to come and do some of the distance and then turn back on their own is welcome to come along.

On this run, for the experienced runners and those who are training with us for an event, we will be working on a negative split. This means, we will be aiming to pick up the pace on the return to a race pace (don’t worry if you are a beginner, there will ALWAYS be a coach at the back).

PLEASE COMMENT HERE IF YOU ARE COMING AND TO WHICH DISTANCE. IF YOU ARE A NEW RUNNER, EMAIL INFO@FITBITCHBOOTCAMP.COM AND WE WILL SEND YOU A FORM TO FILL IN.

Please arrive with plenty of time to park (please note the closest car park mentioned below may still be closed so you may need to park on the road or the car park 5mins away) and pay your fees. We will depart on the dot at 8.30am.

Where: Shoreham by Sea – car park adjacent to The Waterside Inn, Lower Beach Road https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=shoreham+by+sea&hl=en&ll=50.830472,-0.271311&spn=0.003436,0.010568&sll=52.8382,-2.327815&sspn=6.730542,21.643066&t=h&hnear=Shoreham-by-Sea,+West+Sussex,+United+Kingdom&z=17

Time: 8.15am for 8.30am departure

Drop in: £10 – (please note we will be releasing our new package deals for beg to 10k which starts May 15th next week. This or our Annual Membership are the best deal)

Stunning scenic run, Sunday 17th March, 8.30am

Happy Sunday running

Jump, smile and run.

Don’t miss our next Sunday, particularly if you are training for the BlueBell 10k or 10mile as building your mileage gradually, and your hill training is important.

Choose from 6miles (those training for 10k) or 8.5miles (training for 10miles) or if you’re new to us, come along and join us for a social run.

It will start from Hove Park, with a flat route before heading up to the Downs and returning to the park. Those on the longer route will finish with a pacey lap to help focus the mind on race strategy – and just because it’s good to finish on a high!

Our marathon group hit 19miles this week and the advantage of going long? You get to enjoy so much scenery and this route has it all. Sea, river and the downs.

It is a hilly route but where there is an up, there is a down to help you stretch out your legs.

The routes have been chosen to avoid any open fields where it will be very soggy after the snow. BUT trail shoes are probably preferable if you have them.

PLEASE COMMENT IF YOU ARE COMING. ANY NEW MARATHON RUNNERS WISHING TO JOIN US PLEASE EMAIL INFO@FITBITCHBOOTCAMP.COM FIRST

Running etiquette: Please note that we leave at 8.30am from the start so be there with time to get yourself ready and pay your drop in fees.

Please do not run ahead of the coach, or if you do stay within sight. Those running in the middle, if you lose sight of the front runner, you MUST wait for the ambassador bringing up the back so you don’t get lost.

8 & 6mile route please meet at Hove Park Cafe. 8mile route will be led by Melissa, 6mile by Kate. Running ambassador: Elspeth (group dependent on size)

Drop in: £7

Marathon group: Please meet Marrocco’s Cafe, Hove Seafront 8.30am

Our route will follow along the seafront to Shoreham, along the river and then up over the downs finishing at the cafe for an optional breakfast.

Condition your body for running, Weds 27th Feb

Who wants to get in shape?

Who wants to get in shape?

Whether you are coming for the first time, or one of our regulars, this session is one of our essential building blocks to making a good runner.

To be an efficient, good runner, and to help avoid injuries, it is essential to build strength in the correct muscles that help you to run.

And for those of you who have taken up running to get in shape, this is a bonus as these muscles happen to be your legs, butt and core muscles!

So wrap up warm and come on down for this session. Bring a mat if you have one and get ready to work on the muscles which create stability, strength and correct movement function as you run.

For runners starting their training for  10k and 10miles, we’ll be doing a flat, seafront 3.5miles run meeting at 8.30am on the seafront in front of King Alfred’s car park.

Half and Marathon Training Group: 13.5miles and 12miles

Get ready for a scenic stunner, heading out along River Adur, around Bamber Castle and back.

Unlike our previous runs in this area we will be keeping to the right hand side of the river going out, using the Link route to avoid the mud ( But this is the country, there will be mud once we head off this Link path so wear trail shoes if you have them!)

This weekend’s run will be working on race simulation, so we will be attempting to pick up the pace. Both groups will run together, with the half marathon group doing the final 1.5miles into Shoreham by Sea to finish.

PLEASE NOTE – because we are working on pace this weekend, we ask all those who typically run at the back of the group to meet at 8am. We will be starting earlier to give you time to work on your speed. If you are unsure whether you fit into this category, please call RAchael 07855 742195.

Opening up to the Downs, Sunday 2nd Dec

Nothing but clouds, air and gossip!

We’ve enjoyed some beautiful seafront runs and now it’s time to see the beauty of the Downs.

We will be offering a 6 and 7 mile run this Sunday, for anyone who would like to join us.

This is part of the Brighton Marathon and Half Marathon training plan,  and anyone in these groups do try to come as we will be tackling some hills which will  help to condition both your muscles and mental strength for race day.

And what better place to do it on the downs out of Stanmer Park? Here the beauty of the surrounding countryside more than makes up for the extra effort it takes to get up on top.

Don’t worry about being too slow to keep up, we have lots of running ambassadors and coaches to keep you  technique, tips and chat to keep you going!

At the end of this run, you really will feel on top of the world. (Psst, they also do a cracking breakfast at Stanmer House!)

Mince Pie 10mile runners: If you want to do a group run but need to up your distance, we would recommend you do this run and finish with 5 hills up to the treeline and back to replicate as much as possible next weekend’s race.

PLEASE COMMENT IF YOU ARE COMING, ON WHICH DISTANCE AND IF YOU NEED A LIFT.

How did we do? Garda feedback

Fitbitches in Garda

If you were not in Lake Garda with the run club last weekend, you have no doubt heard a lot about it.

To see some pictures from the event, our sixth international since launching three years ago, check out our Facebook page here. Like what you see?Don’t worry, we are planning more next year…will it be Barcelona or Berlin, Turkey or Tallin..

As for our Garda graduates, we’d love to know what you thought of the trip, good and bad, so that we can build on our experience and make them better.

These trips are all about you and your free time, not just about achieving your running goals, and we want to make sure what we offer is the very best it can be. But we need your feedback.

Your views are really important to us so it would help us enormously if you could spend a few minutes filling in our feedback form.

It is completely anonymous, so you can be honest without fear that you will be given extra beach sprints. As if we’d ever do that!
