Strength training to stay injury-free

When you run, two to three times your body weight comes down on your legs. Making sure your legs are strong enough to take the pressure helps reduce the risk of injury. Whether you are new to running or have been running for years, staying injury-free is a key part of your training.

This Wednesday we will focus on strength work using kettlebells and bodyweight to strengthen those muscles, tendons and ligaments which take a pounding when you run. And as it happens, the muscles we will target (legs, bum and tummy) are also the areas we often want to target for muscle tone.

Don’t worry if you’ve never used kettlebells before. We will guide you through the exercises which use this incredibly effective piece of equipment.
