Foam Rollers for Massage: Runners Workshop, 26th October, 7.30pm

When it comes to running, one of the most important pieces of kit aside from your trainers (unless you’re a barefoot runner, in which case this is the MOST important) is a foam roller.

Simply put, this works as a poor man’s massage, helping to promote muscular repair (muscle fibres are broken every time you run and it is their repair which brings about muscular adaptation), break down scar tissue and promote blood flow to the area, much the same as a sports massage.

But at between £12 – £45 depending on the type of roller you get (beginners are fine with a normal foam roller, those who run ALOT go for The Grid, if you can bear it!) they are a lot cheaper. And more importantly, they should help prevent you getting injured so you won’t need the help of a sports massage therapist or physio.

But what do you with them, and what is the safest way to use it? Come to this one hour workshop with sports massage therapist and remedial exercise specialist, Lily Rose Double. It could help prevent you getting injured and improve your running performance.

You don’t need to be a member of our club, nor part of the boot camp to attend. Everyone is welcome.
