11-13.5miles run , Feb 5th, 8am

PLEASE NOTE THE EARLIER START TIME BELOW
ALSO, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO RUN ANY DISTANCE FROM 5MILES UPWARDS, THIS ROUTE ALLOWS YOU DO THIS AS IT IS AN OUT AND BACK ROUTE SO DO COME A LONG IF YOU WOULD LIKE.

For those training for the Brighton Half Marathon, we are just two weeks away from race day, so now is your last chance to try out your race pace at distance before we begin to taper.

This is a flat,’out and back’ route meaning we run one way and retrace our steps on the way back.

This also helps to replicate exactly the conditions of the race you are doing – (without the boredom of doing the Half Marathon route itself!) so helping you to recreate the psychological pressures of race day.

For our Brighton Marathon training group, this route is a good one to increase your distance and again work on pace after the hilly route last week.

This week, we will be pushing you to pick up your pace. This is vital to help the muscular and cardiovascular adaptations required for your progress as runners.

For many runners, particularly women who have just ‘found’ running, the ‘I just want to get through it,’ is a ‘race day’ approach that is common. But have confidence in your ability.

You only have to look how far you have come with your training so far, and write down what you have achieved to appreciate the fact that you have ALL done far more than ‘just getting through it,’ even at this stage.

Don’t panic though! If you want to take things steady and at a more sociable ‘gossip gait’, that is also fine as this route is on open ground so there is no way you can get lost. Another approach to combine is to run one mile at a faster pace,  and then return to your usual pace and keep repeating this throughout the run.

We won’t be stopping on this route but will leave flourescent markers wherever there is any doubt of the route.

Of course, if you are subscribed to one of our plans, or monthly/annual memberships, you can become a friend on MayMYRun.com.

It is free to use the service, you just have to create an account and then ask to be a friend of the Fitbitch Running Club. Then you will have access to all our routes across Sussex (and beyond!).

This route is beautiful – and ends at a cafe for a scrummy brekkie. What could be better?
