Berlin Run Training, Sunday 15th 7am

A clear route to Berlin!

Our fantastic Brighton Marathon crew may be running this weekenD, but that is no reason we should not be completing our own training.

There are less than three weeks until Berlin  and so this weekend’s run is an essential part of your training before we begin to taper. Don’t panic if you have fallen a bit behind.

Most of you training for Berlin ran the Brighton Half and so you have built up the necessary endurance in your legs. But you do need to be putting in the distance on this run.

The run is 13miles, but for those wanting to do the full 15miles (those training for the 25k) we will add this on at the end.

Too far for your current mileage? You will turn and return once you have reached the right mileage on this easy to follow route.

It’s a beautiful route heading up to the windmill, on to Devil’s Dyke and Trueleigh Hill before dropping down through Mile Oak.

We’ll start early so there is no danger of us having difficulty getting home due to the marathon start time.

PLEASE COMMENT HERE IF YOU ARE COMING AND WHAT MILEAGE YOU ARE DOING.

Step up your running – pace session Wednesday 21st March

Running made easy with correct pace work

Yes you’ve guessed it, our mid-week session is all about speed.

Pace work is incredibly rewarding because for short intervals of effort, you’ll be able to run faster for longer – great news if you’re training for the Bluebell 10k, Berlin half or the full marathon. And great for beginners too and those who just want to get fitter.

The session will teach you about pacing; the ability to control your speed over a set distance.

Do you have a tendency to run too fast at the start of a race only to feel your legs get heavy and tired half way through? This session will help you overcome this to help you start beating your race times and to run faster for longer without running out of steam.

We’ll also be looking to get you out of your running rut by increasing your cadence (that simply means moving your legs more quickly) – which will get you moving faster and reduce the risk of injury that comes from over-striding.

Please comment here if you are coming to the training so that we can plan accordingly.

Meet: Hove Promenade, in front of King Alfred (parking free after 6pm)
Time: 7.30pm – 8.30pm

Training Run for all, Sunday March 18th

Hurrah no hills!

If you can run three miles or more, then this training run is for you.

This Sunday we will be combining all our running groups, beginners, BlueBell 10k runners, and those training for the Berlin Half Marathon and the Brighton Marathon groups.

Don’t panic, we will obviously all be running different distances but we will set off together on a beautiful scenic, flat (yes, really) route.

If you are a member of our club, have subscribed to a running package or paid a prescription you can become a friend of FitBitch Running Club on http://www.mapmyrun.com and look at the route for yourself.

Download the app to your phone and you can get the route sent to you.

For our Berlin runners, this week’s run will be a shorter 7-8miles to help us consolidate the endurance we have built so far, ready to go up distance again next week. And for those who are a bit behind, it is the perfect time to catch up.

Beginners, there will be a 3 mile route (returning on your own but it’s easy) while those training for the BlueBell go for six miles.

Marathon runners? It’s a biggie. 19miles but no gradient to help you get into your rhythm, and the support of everyone else running alongside you at the beginning.

Some of our new runners may be thinking ‘I could never run that far,’ of our marathon group.  Yet some of them could only run 5k a little over a year ago.

So come and celebrate women’s running and be part of our inspirational running crew.

The Marathon & Berlin group will be taken by: Kate & Rachael

BlueBell: Melissa

Location: Meet at the footbridge on the Shoreham beach side

IMPORTANT: PLEASE COMMENT HERE IF YOU ARE COMING. ALL MARATHON RUNNERS BRING PHONES AND SUFFICIENT NUTRITION. NEED A LIFT? COMMENT HERE OR JOIN OUR FACEBOOK PAGE AND POST THERE.

Conditioning, confidence, technique, Weds 29th Feb

Conditioning for runners is vital

This week’s Wednesday night training works for you no matter what your level.

Again this week we will be focusing on strength and conditioning work, something many runners leave out of their training but which is vital for improved biomechanics, running efficiency and to help prevent injury.

We will also be taking this conditioning work into some technique workshops, to help you to see how vital the conditioning work is and why it is important.

Whether you are completely new to us and have not yet signed up, or you are training for the BlueBell, Half Marathon, 25k or the Marathon, this is a session not to be missed.

Please COMMENT HERE IF YOU ARE COMING SO WE CAN GET THE CORRECT NUMBER OF COACHES.

Location: Hove Lawns, near HOve Street South

Parking: King Alfred Centre

What to bring: Skipping ropes, mats and a foam roller if you have them. Don’t worry if not.
