Embrace the seasons run, Sun Oct 28th

Go for gold in autumn

Yippee! The clocks go back this weekend so you get an extra hour in bed before this weekend’s Sunday run. And it will be lighter in the morning.

Harness the extra endorphins on a run that embraces all that is good about the changing season with autumn leaves aplenty at Stanmer Park.

There will be three distances to choose from 4, 5 and 8miles. (And for those of our crew who are doing Spartan, there will be an extra sting in the tale at the end of the run, creating the feeling of having to work on fatigued legs- in fact, anyone who wants to take part feel free!)

And Brooks 10k runners, this remains an important building step in your journey to race day. Don’t miss it!

This route is a mix of hills, (up and down), tarmac and off road. If you have not joined us before, please feel free. All are welcome, we won’t leave you behind!

PLEASE NOTE THE DIFFERENCE IN LOCATION MEETING FOR GROUP 4 MILES.

PLEASE COMMENT IF YOU ARE COMING, AND TO WHICH DISTANCE SO WE CAN SCHEDULE SUFFICIENT RUN AMBASSADORS/COACHES.

4 mile route – meet at the car park by the church Stanmer Park at 8.35am with Kate (don’t leave! You will start running when our five-mile runners pass by). Map here

5 mile route – meet car park immediately on the left as you come through the entrance with Rachael at 8.30am

Pace & Strength Training, Weds 3 Oct

with strength and conditioning even you can jump this high!

To those who attended their first ever Sunday run this week with us, well done! As you will no doubt now realise, having new routes to run and running in a group can make distances seem so much easier.

Now find out how it can also make you run faster.

Whether you are training for Garda, Rise 8k (on Sunday!) Brooks 10k, or are a complete beginner who would like to come for the first time, this session is suitable for all.

It will be a combination of pace and strength and conditioning, particularly for our beginners.

Strengthen the correct muscles and you become more efficient runner, and are less likely to be injured.

Work on running faster than you do normally over shorter distances, and you will also get faster in general.

If you have a yoga mat, or skipping rope then do it bring it to this session. PLEASE COMMENT HERE IF YOU ARE COMING SO WE CAN PLAN THE SESSION ACCORDINGLY AS WE WILL SPLIT GROUPS ACCORDING TO RUNNING BACKGROUND.

Location: the grass adjacent to Hove Street, 30secs walk from King Alfred Centre.

Time: 7.30pm

Coaches: Rachael & Kate

Drop in: £5

The River Run, Sun Sept 23

the houseboast of Shoreham,

Whether you are a regular runner, or one that has just started out with us, this week’s route is a great one for all.

A good introduction to off-road running for those doing the shorter distance (4.5miles) it is flat, going past the characterful houseboats of Shoreham and going out along the River Adur where your feet and ankles will get  used to running on uneven terrain without hills.

Don’t want to run 4.5miles? No problem because on this run you can just turn back and follow the river back to the start (making sure you let one of our Run Ambassadors know you are returning earlier).

For our runners training for Lake Garda, it is now three weeks until race day and just two weeks for our runners training for the Rise 8k.

Garda training groups can choose between 8 miles (15k girls) and 17 miles (27.5kms) as per the training plan for those running 30k in Italy. Those who are training for 15k who want to go longer let us know and we can add on 1 or two miles extra.

For those going long, our terrain will vary with a few hills as we leave the river and head into the country, before dropping down through Lancing to the seafront and back to Shoreham, allowing us to pick up our feet and power back to base for a final lap around Shoreham to the finish.

Last week, we  had fields of cows, rivers full of swans and blackberry bushes galore. What will it be this time?!

Come and get your usual Sunday endorphins this weekend!

PLEASE COMMENT HERE IF YOU ARE COMING AND WHICH DISTANCE. IF GOING LONG, PLEASE BRING WATER AND EAT APPROPRIATELY. IT IS A LONG WAY TO GO WITHOUT WATER.

4.5 miles with Kate, 07702 983744

8-10miles with Melissa and Melanie Lankester, 07894 146016

Location: Meet car park by Lower Beach Road, Shoreham-by-Sea – map here. you will need to pay for parking but it is cheap. Comment if you need a lift.
