Coming up THIS WEEK – our Run Summer season!

IMG_2770

DON’T miss our next intake for our summer season of running.

This week, we start our 8 week ‘Power Your Pace’ groups training for the Bacchus Half, Bristol Half and Firle Half starts. You will need to be able to run between 7.30 and 9min miles on a sustained flat to be part of this group and must be able to already run 6miles comfortably.

You may drop in on this group BUT you must show some commitment to the course and pay for some Sunday runs. There are various options, including a half package of Sunday runs to be used at any time during the course.  All courses include the Pace workshop on Wednesday.

Book here for the Power your Pace Half Marathon

If this group is not right for you, don’t fear we have a 12 week to Half Marathon (to coincide with the Royal Parks Half Marathon and the Mizuno Amsterdam Half Marathon for those joining us in our international trip) which starts Weds 31st July (we will be having a shorter course for these half marathons but it starts at 8miles).

Again, you MUST book at least part of some of these Sundays (a half package is available) to be able to attend.  Book the Amsterdam or Royal Parks Half Marathon package (starts at 4miles) here

If you do not book a course, we will be offering five mile social runs as a drop in where we have coach availability.

So, don’t miss out on new groups starting. Questions? Email runningclub@fitbitchbootcamp.com or call Rachael 07855 742195

ANNUAL MEMBERS please tell us which course you wish to do.

Beginner Runners & Beyond – the new season

Don’t miss our next beginners to 10 package for the Brooks 10k starting Weds 24th September

Signed up for the Brighton marathon – don’t miss the  start of our training particularly if you are a beginner – 29th October

If you are already part of our running community, you will have seen all our pictures from our recent race at the Firle Half Marathon and 10k last weekend.

It was a fantastic day of incredible achievements from all. Over a third of our runners  started as beginners, so huge congratulations to Suzy Curd on her first ever half marathon (and a huuugely hilly one!) and our first time 10k runners (or first for a while!) Amy, Kathryn, Penny and Sara who only joined us just a little over eight weeks ago.

And to Karen Napleton who was the third fastest female and Suzanne Ford who showed amazing grit and determination. So many runners to mention but you were all fab!

If you have been inspired by them, or run in Firle and are now looking for your next challenge – or just a race to help you maintain your newfound running mojo, here are our next upcoming dates for 2012 and beyond (the first date indicates the race date – some tbc as they are not released yet, and the second when training starts).

If you would like to join us, you can come to any session for £5 drop in or book a package of runs (currently only the Brooks 10k package is available for booking online and our annual membership – new prices will be released for remaining packages).

Please note, we will also be releasing two ‘performance’ events next season including an adventure race and a further trail race for those looking for something different.

The Endorphin High Session, Weds 5th Sept

get your endorphin fix for the week!

So, we’re all back from holiday and the kids are about to go back to school. You may have the blues but you won’t after this Wednesday’s training session.

We’ll be working on power and pace but don’t worry if you are a beginner, as you will all be put in a group suitable for your level and training.

This session is focused on helping you to improve your speed, which involves more muscle recruitment (more results on your bum – yay!) and means you will burn more calories for longer afterwards (yay again! One way of working off the holiday binge season). And the off shoot of all of this? An endorphin high that will last until the weekend.

If you are training for Garda, you should all be attending these sessions now (or our Sunday’s). And for our Firle runners, this is our last session before race day on Sunday so this will leave you feeling raring to go.

If you have not been to run club before, please come along but arrive 5-10mins early so you can fill out the necessary paperwork.

PLEASE COMMENT HERE IF YOU ARE COMING SO THAT WE PLAN THE SESSION ACCORDINGLY.

The Speed or Ease Run, Sun 2nd September

Hurrah no hills!

Whether you are a beginner who has just joined us for training for the Rise 8k Undercliff Run for Women, or one of group training for Garda or Firle, this Sunday’s training run is for you.

We will forgo the hills this week so that it is suitable for all, including those who have been on holiday over the last two weeks and may have slipped behind on their training plan (I know, very unlikely. Ahem).

If you are up to date on your plan, then in place of hills focus on pace throughout this run.

We will be offering the following distances in accordance with the training plans for races that we are currently working toward.

12miles for the Lake Garda 30k

5 – 8 miles for the Firle Half Marathon, and Garda 15k crew

3 miles for the beginners to Rise 8k

The route is straightforward, out and back along the River Adur starting at Shoreham by Sea, and running along the tow path past the colourful Shoreham houseboats to start.

It means that should you wish to run further – or less – there is the option to do so (although please note that unless you are used to running DON’T increase your mileage beyond your training plan or you risk injury).

In the middle distance group in particular, you will be required to buddy up so that if you are returning before the 4mile turn point (for 8miles) you are running back with someone.

PLEASE COMMENT HERE IF YOU ARE COMING AND WHICH DISTANCE YOU PLAN ON. THIS IS VITAL AS IT ENABLES US TO PLAN ACCORDINGLY FOR THE RUN.

ALSO COMMENT IF YOU NEED A LIFT AS SOMEONE WILL BE ABLE TO PICK YOU UP AND DROP YOU OFF.

Location: Meet car park at Shoreham By Sea just off Riverside, link here. It is free before 9am, thereafter fairly cheap

Time: 8.30am

Coaches:

Rachael, 12 miles (07855 742195)

Melissa, 5-8miles (07894 146016)

Kate, 3miles (07702 983744)

Running Ambassadors: Melanie Anning (short) Karen Russell (long)

PLEASE NOTE, THERE WILL BE NO RUN TRAINING NEXT WEEKEND. THE FIRLE HALF MARATHON AND 10K RACE WILL BE TAKING PART FOR OUR FIRLE GROUP, WHILE THIS RACE WILL FORM AN IMPORTANT TRAINING RUN FOR OUR GARDA GROUP.

P is for….Pace training, Weds 4th July

Pace with post yoga stretching

Whether you are a beginner who wants to try our run session for the first time, or an experienced FitBitch runner then this training will work for you.

We will stay in one place and run out and back so newbies will get the chance to build their distance with a recovery period in between.

Experienced FitBitch runners, this session will be working you in different heart rate zones. This will help challenge and develop your running fitness.

And if you are preparing for any one of our races (Lake Garda, Spartan Beast, Firle, Parkrun, etc) it will  get you used to working on a pace to help you gain a race time that you would like to aim for.

If you would like to work on this, then please visit the site, Cool Running first, enter your race distance and a time that you hope to aim for and come with that pace in mind so we can work on this (bring your running watches if you have – I have a spare if not).

Please also bring skipping ropes if you have them. We have some spares.

Beginners, don’t be put off by all this running geekery!

Please comment here if you are coming.

Location: Lifeguards hut by Hove Street

Parking: King alfred’s centre car park
