Going to the top! Hill training – Wednesday 5th June.

Views from the top.

Smiles and sea views!

Expect sunshine and sea views from the summit on Wednesday. The hill training is once again at Dukes Mound, so we are working on timed repetitions of up to 400 metres. The session is suitable for all levels and will help with race simulation for the upcoming events, Tough Mudder, South Downs and Seaford 10k or half.

There are numerous benefits to hill training and not just for our Sunday runners. Road runners of various distances will reap the rewards after hill training. It’s an effective way of building strength and power whilst also recruiting the upper body and core. An all over workout for you! We will be looking at technique and cadence at the start of the session, which will also improve your running performance on flat runs. PLEASE BRING A STOP WATCH IF YOU HAVE ONE.

MEET: Bottom of Dukes Mound. Madeira Drive – near Yellowave.

TIME: 7:30 – 8:30pm. COACH: Kate 07702983744.

Drop in fee for Wednesday sessions are £5.

Training to run at a certain pace or increase your mileage depends on every individual. Wednesday’s pace session will help you determine what pace you can maintain for your target distance and will improve different aspects of your fitness, provide greater opportunity for recovery between training sessions and reduce the risk of injury.

BEGINNERS – As with all our Wednesday sessions this is suitable for everyone. The session is designed to allow for everyone to run however many intervals that meets their ability whilst controlling your pace.

Tough Mudder, Seaford , South Downs Half runners and those wanting to keep up fitness levels – Pace training will help you gain a pb, complete the long distance and keep variety in your training.

Beauty & the beast training run, Sunday 21st April

time to ditch the thermals?

time to ditch the thermals?

Whether you are a beg-int looking for a fun group to run with, or you are part of our crew training for the beginners Kamikaze Adventure Race, South Downs or Seaford Half Marathon & Tough Mudder foundation runs – you’ll love this Sunday’s training run.

We will be offering a 3miles (beg-int, Kamikaze teams) run, along with a six mile tarmac to off-road route that will go out over Rottingdean to Saltdean and return (longer route) and a small loop for the shorter distance.

It is a beautiful run (and the forecast is for blue skies) but there is a hill – hence the beast!

But our run ambassadors and coaches will ensure we are there to help coax you up the hill – and it will make you stronger.

And for the advanced, faster runners amongst you, we have a twist. …You’ll just have to come along and see what it is!

Stanmer Park and beyond. Sunday 15th July.

Escape to the country this Sunday

This Sunday we are taking to the woodland trails at Stanmer Park. There are two distances of 7 miles and 10 miles. Both start out together as we will run from Stanmer, through the village and up towards Ditchling Beacon. The 7 mile route loops back with some downhill as the pathway takes you back towards Falmer village. The 10 mile route keeps heading towards Lewes before looping back.

Both distances provide lovely scenery. Running past farms and views over Plumpton as we cover some of The South Downs Way.

Lake Garda 30k and the Firle half are on 7 miles for this week. The Lake Garda marathon is 10 miles. There is no rule that you need to be training for these events to join us. If you are familiar with off-road running or similar distances then come along. Comment with your distance and if you need or can offer a lift. The Stanmer House is now open for Breakfast. Always nice to end a long run with some food, especially if it’s made for you!

Meet: Stanmer Park, entrance off the A27. First car park on the left.

Time: 8:30am

Coaches: Kate 07702983744. Melissa 07894146016. Ambassador: Mel A.

Improve your running with strength and conditioning. Wednesday 16th May.

Strength and conditioning ‘train’ing the FitBitch way.

Strength and conditioning is a vital part of training for any runner. It will decrease the risk of injury and increase muscular strength and running performance.  As always we acknowledge that our runners are at different levels, so each exercise is adapted accordingly. If you are training for the Friston Forest 10k, Brighton Trailblazer or the South Downs half, then this is a session not to be missed. The exercises are all running specific and will help you get up those hills and recruit the muscles required. If you are new to training and possibly pondering on taking on a challenge in the future, now is the best time to embark on strength and conditioning. Plus it’s an opportunity to workout using the FitBitch handbags!

It is important to leave a comment so I know how many to expect, so I can bring enough equipment.
