Wednesday 18th December last training session of 2013

It's Christmas!

It’s Christmas!

It’s almost Christmas and our last training session of the year. We’ll be bringing some festive fun to a hill workout this Wednesday.

The session will help boost the muscles that engage during running, the leg muscles and the core muscles. The quadriceps, calves, and hamstrings will be tested to a level to help improve your running performance. If this doesn’t sound like fun then you’ll be surprised how we can disguise a thorough workout with a Christmas theme. You’ll have to wait until Wednesday to find out what Santa has in store!

TIME and MEETING POINT: Madeira Drive. Outside Peter Pan playground at 7.30pm till 8.30.

COACH: Kate 07702 983744

Price: £5 drop in payable online in advance. If you have booked a course, please still book in for your session. click here

Hill interval training. Wednesday 9th October.

Reaching new heights

Reaching new heights

We’ve just had a fabulous Fitbitch weekend of running and there’s plenty more to come.  Next up is the Amsterdam half marathon followed by the Brooks 10k. Whether or not you are training for one of these events our Wednesday sessions are suitable for all levels of runners. This week it’s a hill session which benefits all runners, even if you’re training for a flat race.

Hill running improves the strength and endurance of the quadriceps, hip flexor and hip extensor muscle groups—so the increased ability of these muscle groups to resist fatigue (lactic acid) shows through in the latter stages of races. You’ll slow down less, improving your race times or completing a race more comfortably. Whatever your goal is, you’ll reap the benefits if you include hill training in your programme.

MEET: Peter Pan playground (next to yellowave). Madeira Drive.

TIME: 7:30 – 8:30 pm

Who wants to learn to run?

Who wants to learn to run?

Learn how to transform YOUR running style with the correct technique and posture in our Biomechanics Workshop, £10, this week (included free in the cost of our upcoming courses).

This workshop will help lay the foundations for becoming a good runner if you’re a beginner, and/or improve your running if you are already running regularly. But most importantly, it could help prevent potential injury by spotting weaknesses now.

Where possible we shall also include video playback within the session. The workshop is open to ALL (booking below) but spaces are STRICTLY limited.

First priority to Annual Members (please book online to secure your space via the link below) and any one booking our new courses which start THIS WEDS.

We have a beginners 12 week Half Marathon programme (the first ‘long’ run will start at 2.5miles) which will help you get in shape this summer, as well as train you for any of the following races: Bacchus Half, Firle or Bristol Half Marathon.

We will ONLY be running both courses if we have sufficient numbers. In the case of the Trail running Course, there will be NO drop-ins on this course. Please consult our Prices and Booking pages (links at the bottom) for Terms & Conditions.

For our regular runners who do not want to attend the workshop, this week’s session will focus on  Strength & Conditioning for Runners. Bring your mats, rollers and skipping ropes.

Going to the top! Hill training – Wednesday 5th June.

Views from the top.

Smiles and sea views!

Expect sunshine and sea views from the summit on Wednesday. The hill training is once again at Dukes Mound, so we are working on timed repetitions of up to 400 metres. The session is suitable for all levels and will help with race simulation for the upcoming events, Tough Mudder, South Downs and Seaford 10k or half.

There are numerous benefits to hill training and not just for our Sunday runners. Road runners of various distances will reap the rewards after hill training. It’s an effective way of building strength and power whilst also recruiting the upper body and core. An all over workout for you! We will be looking at technique and cadence at the start of the session, which will also improve your running performance on flat runs. PLEASE BRING A STOP WATCH IF YOU HAVE ONE.

MEET: Bottom of Dukes Mound. Madeira Drive – near Yellowave.

TIME: 7:30 – 8:30pm. COACH: Kate 07702983744.

BEGINNERS – As with all our Wednesday sessions this is suitable for everyone. The session is designed to allow for everyone to run however many intervals that meets their ability whilst controlling your pace.

Tough Mudder, Seaford , South Downs Half runners and those wanting to keep up fitness levels – Pace training will help you gain a pb, complete the long distance and keep variety in your training.
