Berlin Run Training, Sunday 15th 7am

A clear route to Berlin!

Our fantastic Brighton Marathon crew may be running this weekenD, but that is no reason we should not be completing our own training.

There are less than three weeks until Berlin  and so this weekend’s run is an essential part of your training before we begin to taper. Don’t panic if you have fallen a bit behind.

Most of you training for Berlin ran the Brighton Half and so you have built up the necessary endurance in your legs. But you do need to be putting in the distance on this run.

The run is 13miles, but for those wanting to do the full 15miles (those training for the 25k) we will add this on at the end.

Too far for your current mileage? You will turn and return once you have reached the right mileage on this easy to follow route.

It’s a beautiful route heading up to the windmill, on to Devil’s Dyke and Trueleigh Hill before dropping down through Mile Oak.

We’ll start early so there is no danger of us having difficulty getting home due to the marathon start time.

PLEASE COMMENT HERE IF YOU ARE COMING AND WHAT MILEAGE YOU ARE DOING.

Training Run for all, Sunday March 18th

Hurrah no hills!

If you can run three miles or more, then this training run is for you.

This Sunday we will be combining all our running groups, beginners, BlueBell 10k runners, and those training for the Berlin Half Marathon and the Brighton Marathon groups.

Don’t panic, we will obviously all be running different distances but we will set off together on a beautiful scenic, flat (yes, really) route.

If you are a member of our club, have subscribed to a running package or paid a prescription you can become a friend of FitBitch Running Club on http://www.mapmyrun.com and look at the route for yourself.

Download the app to your phone and you can get the route sent to you.

For our Berlin runners, this week’s run will be a shorter 7-8miles to help us consolidate the endurance we have built so far, ready to go up distance again next week. And for those who are a bit behind, it is the perfect time to catch up.

Beginners, there will be a 3 mile route (returning on your own but it’s easy) while those training for the BlueBell go for six miles.

Marathon runners? It’s a biggie. 19miles but no gradient to help you get into your rhythm, and the support of everyone else running alongside you at the beginning.

Some of our new runners may be thinking ‘I could never run that far,’ of our marathon group.  Yet some of them could only run 5k a little over a year ago.

So come and celebrate women’s running and be part of our inspirational running crew.

The Marathon & Berlin group will be taken by: Kate & Rachael

BlueBell: Melissa

Training run, building distance, Sun 4th March

A run shared is a run that feels half the distance

Come to this Sunday’s training session which is perfect for a whole range of mixed ability runners.

For those training for the BlueBell 10k or beginners who just want to join our Sunday’s runs we will have a three or five mile route to choose from.

Berlin Half Marathon and 25k runners, choose from 8miles or 10miles depending on which training plan you are following.

For beginners, there will be a slight incline but on the road to help you gain confidence and build your strength.

Five miles and beyond, we will be going off road with some hills to help you build strength and endurance. For the BlueBell runners in particular, the route has hills so it’s good to master them with the correct training now.

If you would like to see the route, you can become a friend of FitBitch Running Club on mapmyrun.com. This is only available to those who are on a package, monthly or annual subscription.

PLEASE COMMENT HERE IF YOU ARE COMING SO WE CAN GET THE CORRECT NUMBER OF COACHES/GUIDES TO RUN WITH THE GROUP.

MARATHON RUNNERS, YOUR ROUTE AND TRAINING DETAILS WILL BE POSTED SOON.

FitBitch Run Club hits Berlin, May 2012

FitBitches conquer Palma, Oct 2011

URGENT – BOOK FLIGHTS NOW FOR CHEAPEST PRICE – WE WILL BE FLYING OUT ON FIRST FLIGHT ON FRIDAY IF YOU WANT TO COME WITH THE GROUP BUT EASY TO BOOK LATER IF PREFERRED.

If you saw our photos of the FitBitch run club in Palma last year, (or Lisbon or Paris!) and wished you’d been along, now is your chance.

Our next international race will be the Berlin 25k,. It is NOT as previously stated a half marathon, but a tad over this distance at 15.53miles.

It is the perfect distance for those looking for their next challenge but who don’t want to run a marathon. And it would fit perfectly for those who will have just finished their Brighton Half training.

That said, we will be training beginners (you must be able to run 10k comfortably) too, so if you want to be part of a group of women all working towards the same goal (er, a weekend in Berlin with spas, great coffee shops and cocktail bars…what’s not to like about that?!) now is your chance.

There are various package price options that you can choose, as outlined below. We are adding a nominal administration fee this year. This is not us making a profit but just to cover the work/man hours it costs to us to organise these weekends.

BUT what you pay us is made up for in the savings you make in terms of the block booking discounts we negotiate on hotel bookings and race entry (we are currently waiting for them to come back to us on the 35 euro registration cost).

The package options (payable direct to the FB bank account REF Berlin, available on request).

Beginners/returnees 12 week Plan, starts week commencing February 13th, 2012

Full Option, £112
which includes 23 training sessions (Weds and Sun at £4 per session), and £20 admin fee. Free training plan.

Half Option, £74
, which includes 12 sessions (Weds OR Sun at £4.50 per session), and £20 admin fee. Free training plan.

Brighton Half Marathon runners 10 week Plan, starts week commencing February 27th, 2012

If you are training for the Brighton Half, you don’t want to start your training from scratch but perhaps you want to improve on your time, or get stronger so you do even better at Berlin?
This plan will take this into account and many of our Weds training sessions will be geared towards strength and conditioning and pace work. Sunday training runs will continue at a good mileage rather than dropping back down.

Full Option, £96, which includes 19 sessions (Weds and Sun at £4 per session) and £20 admin fee. Free training plan.

Half Option, £65, which includes 10 sessions (Weds OR Sun at £4.50 per session) and £20 admin fee. Free training plan.

Can’t commit to any of these options but still want to be part of the group? Try our No Plan option, £35 which will cover the admin fee. As we say, you will make this back in the costs you save by being part of the group. Drop in runs are £5.

Other costs
Obviously, flights, hotel and food costs are additional. That said, we will organise Friday and Sunday evening meals as well as the hotel booking itself (based on two sharing) to save you money. As a guide, costs per person per room in Palma were £45, including breakfast and a rather fab hot tub (although, expectations are that room rates should be cheaper than this).

We are negotiating currently with luise-berlin.com, nuernberger-eck.de,
hotel-pensionfunk.de, and http://www.kudamm101.com
Flight details: Book your flight soon if you are definitely coming.

Everyone will have different times they want to travel out and return but the main group will be going from Friday 4th May and returning on Tuesday 8th May.

Either £118 departing 6.40am on Friday, returning Tuesday 18.30pm (I’m doing this)

OR if you’re not an early bird, £140.68, leaving at 13.15pm on Friday

There are VERY FEW seats left at these prices so book TODAY! If you snooze, you’ll end up paying more. Flights to Berlin Schonefied.

Please comment below (NO EMAIL) which flight you are getting and which option plan you would like to go for if any.
