Stunning Sea to Downs, Sunday 1st December

Trail running and sea views.

Trail running and sea views.

Pinch, punch first day of the month…enjoy your spectacular run with us this weekend on a run that will go from tarmac to off-road, and from flat to hills.

This 5mile run is the first of our off road route to help build distance and strength.

We are operating a new system on ALL off road routes where you will be buddied up with someone of your own pace, who you must remain with throughout the run. We will match you on the day (please note there will also be a turn and return policy in place which we shall explain on the day).

Enjoy the flat, tarmac path along the Undercliff heading out towards Rottingdean to focus on your cadence (er, or Sunday chat!) before heading inland and up!

This route is NOT suitable if you have not been training with our half marathon group. You are welcome to come in as a drop in member only if you have recently run this distance.

Location: Brighton Marina Asda Car Park (please bring money for parking)

Time: 8.20am for a strict 8.30am start

Price: Payment online only – click HERE

Coaches: Rachael and Tor

Seafront start to half marathon training. Sunday 24th November.

Share the experience.

Share the experience.

Whether you’re after a social run or your Brighton half marathon training has started, our Sunday route this week is a flat seafront 4 mile run. This distance is the perfect starting block for your training and by keeping it flat it will allow you to focus on the pace you anticipate to run the full distance at. Even if you are one of our regular runners and you have been running longer distances recently, keeping the mileage less and building up again will help your body recover for further training. Plus it’s a good one for a fast, flat run.

Our half marathon training runs are a great way to find your running buddy and share the experience with new or old friends. Being part of the FitBitch community offers fantastic camaraderie and support during the training and on the day of the running event.

MEET: outside Marroccos cafe. King’s Esplanade. Hove.

TIME: 8.20 am for a pre run brief. Run starts at 8.30 prompt.

Coach: Kate (07702 983744). R/A: Tor.

Price, £10, bookable online only.

Stunning Sunday run for Brooks 10k & Amsterdam, Sunday 29th Sept

Beauty and the beast of trail running, a hill to get up but rewarded with a downhill

Beauty and the beast of trail running, a hill to get up but rewarded with a downhill

Get your autumn running legs on the go with this beautiful 3mile coastal route, over a mixture of terrains with some flat and undulating hills. Aimed at those training for the Brooks 10k, it is open to newcomers as well as those on our Brooks packages. With this route, you can always turn and return on your own if you feel you’ve bitten off more than you can chew.

For our Amsterdam and Royal Parks Half Marathon runners (or those who are regular long distance runners) we have a 13 mile route although for those who are a little behind in their training, there is the option to meet us later and do 10miles. You will need to comment here if you choose to do this.

This longer route is a mixture of ups and downs but is a great confidence boosting run with a lovely downhill section that helps you to get your rhythm and feel strong.

While we will try to accommodate newcomers and regulars alike, these longer distance runs of 10 and more miles are NOT suitable if you can not demonstrate gradual mileage build up recently. If you have been injured and then upped your mileage please email us first before booking.

We will be offering pace groups of between a one hour 45 and 2 hour 10 half marathon time on this 13mile run (that’s on a flat – don’t panic!)

Location: Meet Tesco car park Rottingdean

Time: 8.20am for strict 8.30am departure – please note those who wish to run 10miles can meet us here at 8.50am when we should be on our return through the park to continue the remaining 10miles (please comment here if doing 10miles as well as booking online)

Coaches: Rachael & Karen on Long, Melissa on short

The only way to get your glow on – run the Fitbitch way

Please note our beginners running course will meet in the same place with Karen. For drop in run club please read below.

After last week’s strength and conditioning session, build on your running foundations with this our pace seafront session.

We will again be going over a few technique pointers with our metronome cadence and (don’t worry if you’ve not done it before now, we’ll go through it) ladder work to give you poise before the pace.

This will take up a short warm up section before we go into a pace session suited for all levels, whether beginners and new to us or our regulars.

If you’re a total beginner, these pace sessions work to help build you distance with a break between each distance. One of our regulars, you know what to expect!

ALL bookings must now be made online here except for Rise 8k Runners. If you are a Rise runner please comment below to let us know if you are coming.

Get your September off to a flying start – run club Weds

If you are a total beginner wantingImageIf you are a total beginner wanting to learn how to get from  couch to 5k, DON’T miss the start of our new course this Wednesday at 7.30pm (Book via our running courses link below).

Meanwhile, for our regulars we return to Hove seafront for this speedy pace session. Perfect for our Bacchus runners who can fine tune their race preparation and an excellent way of training for all our Rise 8k and drop in runners too.

Pace work helps build your strength, fitness and your psychological strength too. Ahem,  not to mention your butt muscles as you run faster, recruiting more of your muscles.

So, whether you’re coming down to our beginners course (don’t worry, you won’t be doing pace work!) or one of our regulars, we look forward to some blistering pace setters this coming Weds.

Regular runners, if you have skipping ropes please bring them.

Please note ALL BOOKINGS should now be made online for both our courses and drop in rates. We won’t accept anyone else unless you are part of the Rise Crew on a complimentary package.

Where: Basketball courts Hove Park

Time: 7.25pm for a 7.30pm start

‘Show us your soles’ Pace training, Weds 14th August

Show us your soles!

Show us your soles!

In a break with tradition, this week we will meet up at Hove Park for a pace session rather than the seafront. (location below)

Whether you are a total beginner, or one of our regulars, pace sessions are an integral part of training as a runner. They help build your muscles, (better activating the glute muscles, hence it means that you should be showing the sole of your foot to the person behind you if you’re running correctly) and helps to make you faster.

We are going to make this fun though too – we won’t just set you off with a watch to try and stick to a pace. How are we going to achieve that? Well, you’ll just have to come and find out.

For beginners not used to running distance, don’t fear, we will not be running any longer than 1km at any time, and always returning to the same place.

All £5 session fees can now be made online. We are accepting payments on the day up until September when it will all have to be done online.

In the meantime, please comment here if you are coming UNLESS you pay online where we will have your details.

Remember, if you have registered with Rise UK and have NEVER done a session with Fitibtch run club or our camps, Wednesday night training (starts next week August 21st until October 2nd) is free for you on completion of a registration form that will be sent automatically on entering the Rise8k. So hurry, and register for the 8k or relay!
